Other Teaching Experience
Spring 2016: Course Instructor for EDT 180:Technology Literacy: Problem Solving using Digital Technology Applications
Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ
I worked with 33 diverse learners and guide them to better understanding how they could use digital media to enhance their classrooms, facilitate learning, and enrich their professional online presence. Because many students were not in the Teachers College, I designed the course to allow for a large amount of personal choice and freedom within the assignments.
2012-2013: 8th Grade English Teacher
Kino Junior High, Mesa, AZ
I worked with a wide range of knowledge and abilities at Kino Junior High School. With other teachers, I worked to create a curriculum plan for the year that implements the new Common Core Standards. I also integrated technology into the classroom to provide a more interactive learning environment for the students.
2011-2012: High School English Teacher
MGRM Pinnacle Education/InnovatED, Tempe, AZ
I worked with a very unique group on students in an online charter school. Throughout my time there, I worked with various kinds of students, including those who were currently enrolled in a traditional high school and taking extra classes, students enrolled full time with Pinnacle, and students around the country who needed to recover credits through online education. This experience brought me closer to the nature of today’s students and the changing needs that they have. I also worked to re-design and rewrite the curricula to meet the Common Core Standards.
2009 (SP): Student teaching in the English classroom of Shawna Rodriguez
Cholla High Magnet School , Tucson, AZ
Working with four sections of Seniors and two sections of Juniors, I designed multiple units and took complete control of the classroom for eight weeks. I helped create all lessons that were delivered during my four months in the classroom.
2007-2008: Practicum work in the English classroom of Kathryn Chavez, Hector Ayala, Julie Kasper
Maxwell Middle School, Cholla High School, Catalina Middle School , Tucson, AZ
I worked closely with a small group at Title One students in a special reading program. I designed and delivered three lesson plans and helped manage the classroom. At Catalina, I worked with a diverse group of students in Project LEARN using technology to help them become better writers and students. By working very closely with the students, I was able to see what they were having problems with and how they accomplished their goals in the classroom.
